On the evening of May 23, Vancouver's iconic Science World will be glowing purple—but this isn’t just for aesthetics. It’s a powerful show of support for Piece of Heaven Project, a nonprofit animal sanctuary nestled in Burton, BC. This illumination represents more than a color; it’s a beacon of hope, compassion, and awareness for animals and the growing vegan movement.
What is the Piece of Heaven Project?
Piece of Heaven Project is an animal sanctuary dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and providing lifelong care for animals who have experienced neglect, abuse, or abandonment. Founded on values of empathy and stewardship, the sanctuary is home to a wide range of animals, from goats and pigs to cows and chickens—all of whom are treated not as commodities, but as individuals with feelings and needs.
Our mission? To offer a safe, loving environment for animals while educating the public about compassionate and sustainable living.
Why Purple?
Purple is often associated with peace, dignity, and transformation—values that mirror the sanctuary’s ethos. Lighting up Science World in purple sends a clear message: animals deserve respect, compassion, and freedom from suffering. It’s also a tribute to the strength of the vegan cause, which continues to grow in influence and visibility across Canada and the world.
A Spotlight on Vegan Awareness
This symbolic gesture by Science World is more than a beautiful spectacle; it's a moment to reflect and engage. Each time someone sees that purple glow, it becomes an invitation to consider the lives of animals and the choices we make every day. From what we eat to what we wear, every action can either contribute to suffering or reduce it.
As veganism gains traction, events like this help to normalize the conversation around animal rights and plant-based living. They remind us that compassion isn't fringe—it's fundamental.
How You Can Help
